I have had experiences with Caucasian people who would say I come across as aggressive with my tone of voice. For instance, if I disagree to move to an unsafe ward because that ward is already unsafe and needs at least 2 more nurses to make the ward safe due to the acuity of patients and complex drugs. My Caucasian superiors will say I am aggressive because I refuse to go. They will force me to go to an unsafe environment threatening to put me on disciplinary if I refuse to go, putting my registration at risk. They say or are being seen as being assertive. Instead, this is bullying in the workplace. Which leads me to really assess the fine line between being aggressive and assertive.
